Almost done – Chelsea to announce signing of Man United target as Hiddink completes 1st signing

Underwhelming Premier League champions Chelsea have reportedly set their sights on Everton and Republic of Ireland defender Seamus Coleman ahead of the January transfer window.

The Stamford Bridge outfit’s defensive struggles this season are well documented having conceded a whooping 27 goals in 17 league games leading to reports that the club would move for Seamus Coleman when the transfer window starts next month. Chelsea, currently languishing in 15th place on the log, clearly need reinforcements as they attempt to join the battle for the European places after a disappointing start to their title defence.

It remains to be seen whether Everton would allow the defender to leave Goodison Park for Chelsea after the much-publicised long-running summer transfer saga between the two clubs involving England defender John Stones.

Coleman is widely regarded as one of the best right-backs in England having made 190 appearances for Everton in addition to 30 caps for the Republic of Ireland and his signing is expected to bring solidity and creativity to the Chelsea rearguard.
