Bad News For Arsenal – Alexis Sanchez To Miss Five Arsenal Games

Alexis Sanchez was instrumental to his nation, Chile’s Copa America win, but this may, however, spell doom for his club, Arsenal.

The Arsenal star is now unlikely to start the season with the Gunners. As reported by the Independent,”Alexis Sanchez looks set to miss the start of the Premier League season after his Chile side endured extra-time in the Copa America final before eventually overcoming Argentina in a penalty shoot-out”.

Arsenal’s Alexis – who was also pivotal in ensuring his team secured back-to-back FA Cup titles last season – played almost every match for the Gunners and has virtually not had any rest.

He was subsequently called up to represent Chile in the Copa America after Arsenal’s season came to an end.

Before that tournament, however, boss Arsene Wenger has, as per the Daily Cannon, submitted that although a win would be fantastic for Chile who haven’t won the trophy for 99 years, “it wouldn’t be so good for Arsenal who will be missing one of their most important players during a crucial time.”

After the Copa America event, Alexis Sanchez will, no doubt, need to rest and regain some energy ahead of next campaign. This will, in turn, make the former Barcelona man miss pre-season and the opening stages of Arsenal’s season.

Mesut Oezil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski were in a similar situation in 2014 when they won the World Cup with Germany. They were also allowed to have enough rest before reporting back for the new season.

The immensely-talented Alexis’ first season in England ended with him scoring 25 goals and notched 12 assists for the Gunners. This shows how important he is to the team.

Although the number of competitive matches the Chilean will miss is still not known, but if he would still be unavailable throughout August, Alexis would miss matches with West ham, Crystal palace, Newcastle and Liverpool – in no particular order.

Alexis, 27, played in all of Chile’s match in the Copa America and scored the winning penalty against Argentina in the final.
