Lord Sebastian Coe has revealed in a new book, that the FIFA president Sepp Blatter thought English football was run by “idiots”, before the failure of the 2018 World Cup bid. Coe admits he realised the opinion after an organising committee meeting.
It sounds like FIFA were yawning and looking at partycasino.com , rather than considering the English bid. Coe said to executive Keith Mills, that FIFA simply weren’t interested. “It’s got the smell of death about it,” Coe wrote. “I had been truly shocked by the vituperative nature of the meeting I had just witnessed. There was thinly disguised contempt around the table.”
His words make sense, when you consider the fact the England bid garnered a mere two votes. Coe also claims Sepp Blatter always wanted Russia to earn the rights to host. That said he was adamant this was not a reflection of his opinion of England as a whole. Rather he disliked the structure of English football. He pointed out that as a man from Switzerland, Blatter like many Swiss is fond of England.
“As president of the international federation he sees the unwillingness of English clubs to release players for international duty. He sees the purchasing power of the English game – big-name clubs buying up players from all over the world. And he sees a national federation that, at the time of the bid, had no chairman and no chief executive,” Coe said.
It must have been disappointing for Coe to hear from the horses mouth that others thought English football was “not run by bright people,” but it would have been nice to see the committee look past all that.
Still, maybe this will give the UK clubs something to think about. If FIFA are unhappy with the people and politics in the English game, perhaps they could rectify that opinion? Not likely, but the fans can dream.

did he really said that? well, up to the FA to respond to that.
