Breaking: Man Utd close to sealing £70m mega deal for Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been on the radar of most elite European clubs for some time now but Manchester United seem favorites to clinch a deal, if one can be made. According to the Daily Mail, United are confident of bringing the Gabon international and prolific goalscorer to Old Trafford, providing Real Madrid do not make an offer.

The Borussia Dortmund hitman has been in sensational form all season, notching a staggering amount of goals in Germany, 36 in 42 appearances, which has alerted the Spanish giants, given that Aubameyang’s mother lives in Spain.

United are hoping that Real pass on the opportunity to sign the player, given the £70million price tag imposed upon the player.

Ed Woodward looks to have made Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the clubs top target this season, possibly a suggestion that they will not get their preferred striker Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski is highly rated by most teams in Europe and if he plans on leaving Bayern, he will have no shortage of clubs offering lucrative contracts. Manchester United going for Aubameyang might be a sign that they are not confident in sealing a deal for the Polish striker.

As with any Manchester United transfer speculation, much rests on who will be in charge next season. Mourinho is rumored to be in line for the job but Laurent Blanc and Ryan Giggs also want the job. Champions League football might also be a factor in whether Manchester United can buy either striker, which looks unlikely at the moment given their league position.
