Chelsea to Beat Man Utd & Liverpool in a Transfer Race for James Vardy, New Contract Offered

Daily Express claims that Chelsea are favourites to sign Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy in the January transfer window. The report claims that the Blues have emerged as the Bookies’ favourites, ahead of Liverpool, Man Utd and Tottenham, to sign the 28-year old this month. Vardy has taken Premier League by storm this season and has already scored 15 goals for the Foxes.

Sky Bet backs the Blues at 8/1 to sign the player this month while Liverpool are second favourites at 14/1, trailed by Man Utd at 25/1.

Man Utd are also in search for a striker as goal scoring has been their Achilles heel this season while Liverpool have been hit hard by injuries. The Foxes, however, are determined to hold onto their star player and are ready to offer him a new contract, which will more than double his wages. Vardy turns 29 next week and this might be his last opportunity to play for a major club, but he recently proclaimed that the Foxes match his ambitions.

“Yes, Leicester match my ambitions,” Vardy said on his future. “I think the gaffer has come in and told the owners what he wants to do, and he wants to keep progressing. He wants to progress on what we did last year and then, in the years to come, he wants to keep us going up and up and up.”

It will become clear in next weeks whether Vardy decides to sign the new contract that has been put on the table by the Foxes.  Vardy, who has two years left on his contract, has a major decision to make this month as the Foxes heavily rely on his services in their pursuit of a Champions League place.
Major sports network Sky Sports have also reported that Premier League giants Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City are monitoring Vardy’s situation and will be ready to make a move if he decides not to sign the new contract with the Foxes.
