Club on the verge of signing striker with 15 goals 5 assists in 22 games this season, medical to follow

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Marseille’s Michy Batshuayi but they could face competition from Tottenham. Arsenal sent scouts to watch Batshuayi in against Rennes earlier this month in the Ligue 1, according to the Daily Mail, but there were also Spurs scouts in the stands.

Marseille are keen to keep hold of the 22-year-old striker but a bid of around £15million may be enough to get a move sanctioned. Batshuayi made his debut for Belgium earlier this year and so far has managed two goals in as many appearances, including a goal in the win over Italy last month.

Spurs, meanwhile, remain interested in Saido Berahino, but West Brom rejected four bids for the striker from the north London club over the summer. Arsenal are currently having a great season and the addition of Batshuayi would be a big boost in increasing squad depth as well as the general quality of the side as the Gunners look to make a strong title challenge.

Arsenal are set to have a couple of their long term injury players back, so it will be quite intriguing to see how Wenger’s side fares in the new year.
