Conte backed by Abramovich to complete £64m deal for Antoine Griezmann ahead of Man Utd

News surrounding the potential move for Antoine Griezmann, the Atletico Madrid forward, by top English Premier League clubs continues to intensify by day. English Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea are all in the race for the Atletico star and French International forward signature.

This follows the French International’s good form at Atletico having had scored 29 times in 47 appearances this season. Griezmann’s continued good form has helped Atletico Madrid catch up with La Liga Leaders Barcelona is only ahead due to a superior goal difference.

Atletico Madrid is now counting on the Frenchman’s run of fine form to assist them battle for their Second La Liga title in three years. Initially, Manchester United was placed in a better position in the race to secure Griezmann’s signature should the talented Frenchman decide to move on.

However, with Antonio Conte, all but set to take over as the new Chelsea manager in the 2016/2017 season, bookers are betting on Chelsea beating Manchester united to secure Griezmann’s signature as reported by Bet-way’s Allan Alger.  In fact, bookmarkers are placing Chelsea way ahead of Manchester United in their chances of securing Griezmann’s signature.

The future of Antoine Griezmann at current club Atletico Madrid remains high going by the fact that Atletico are in contention for both La Liga and the Champion’s League titles this season. A player of Griezmann’s standing would most likely value playing in the Champion’s League and with both Chelsea and Manchester United likely to miss out on Champions League qualification, Griezmann might as well choose to stay put at Atletico Madrid.
