Sturridge Makes Me Sick

Daniel Sturridge Makes Me Sick – Claims Liverpool Star

The Reds currently suffer injuries to key members of their squad as 5 of their first team players are on the sidelines. However, Benteke and Sturridge are nearing full fitness, with the former making a cameo appearance against Manchester City on Sunday. Sturridge was an unused substitute in the 4 – 1 thrashing of the Citizens at the Etihad, but him not featuring was only because the coach was careful not to risk his fitness. The England international striker returned to first team training during the international break and was tipped to feature against the Manuel Pellegrini-side.

Liverpool vice-captain, and former City midfielder, James Milner who also missed out of appearing for the Three Lions during the international break due to injury confirmed Sturridge’s fitness and sharp return to action. Revealing that the 26 year-old training sessions since he returned has been devoid of any form of rustiness due to his recent injury, but he has rather recovered and looked sharp in training, with his shots and turns. Qualities of Sturridge made Milner sick, as he light-heartedly admitted.

Milner and Sturridge are on good terms, as seen in the recent James Bond promo video:

Sturridge picked up a knee injury during training in September, and he is yet to feature for Liverpool under the new coach. Prior to Klopp’s arrival, he only appeared once in the League, against Aston Villa where he bagged 2 goals. It is hoped that his return becomes permanent, as his quality is top-notch. Milner says that “he can be a big player for us.” He also hoped that Philippe Coutinho’s hamstring isn’t that serious as he has been important for the Reds this season. He said concerning the Brazilian,

“We need Philippe to be OK, he was feeling his hamstring. We also need some of the other players back. We had Daniel Sturridge on the bench at City, that’s nice to see. It will be nicer to see him back on the pitch. We’ve had ups and downs with injuries but we won’t use that as an excuse.”
