Valdes Leaving Man Utd

Deal Done: Man Utd Reach an Agreement over La Liga & UCL Winner after Brutal Fallout with Manager

Man Utd goalkeeper Victor Valdes has agreed to join Belgian club Standard Liege on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The loan move marks the end of the tumultuous time at Old Trafford for the Spaniard, who was completely sidelined from the United team after falling out with manager Louis Van Gaal.

He arrived at the club on a free transfer last January and only managed two league appearances for the Red Devils during his one-year stay at the club.

A statement on Manchester United’s website said: “Manchester United and Standard Liege have reached an agreement for the temporary transfer of goalkeeper Victor Valdes, effective until the end of the current season. The deal is subject to formalities being completed.”

The former Barcelona star has previously indicated on the impending move by posting the following message on his Twitter account:

Valdes won six La Liga titles and three Champions League titles during his time with Barcelona. He was also a part of the 2010 World Cup and 2012 Euro Cup winning Spanish squad.
