Done deal: Man Utd announce signing after young star completed medical

Poor performance and inconsistency of Manchester United has transformed what used to be a ‘Theatre of dreams’ to a ‘Theatre of screams’ since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. Several transfers have been made to change United’s fortunes, the latest one being the signing of 15-year old Lee O’Connor.

The Ireland defender has passed medical and this is a done deal for the Red Devils. Louis Van Gaal has continued to build a team for the future at Manchester United, like he did at Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Some die-hard Manchester United fans still do not know why he should leave the club. However, since there is no official communication regarding his sacking, time will tell whether or not he will remain.

Lee O’Connor football career began at Waterford. He is the captain of the U16 team for his country and he was Ireland’s under-15 player of the year. He fellow countryman, John O’Shea also played for Manchester united, having developed his career at Waterford as well. Lee O’Connor is expected to follow the steps of O’Shea and perhaps do better than him.

United must continue recruiting young players in order to compete with big teams in the EPL like Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal who are also recruiting youngsters and strengthening their squads for the coming seasons.
Nicky Butt believes that the United Youth system is producing great players, and this trend will continue, even if they lack a training complex that is as good as that of Manchester City.
