Emergency Signing – Jose Mourinho Confirms New Signing On The Way

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that the arrival of a new goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge is imminent, as the club cannot wait until January when first-choice Thibaut Courtois would have been back from injury, as claimed by the Daily Star.

Courtois’ injury has left the Blues with Asmir Begovic as number one goalie, with 21-year old Jamal Blackman as the Bosnian’s understudy.

Now in his press conference of yesterday ahead of today’s game against Southampton, Mourinho has claimed his club will sign a new goalie very soon and it would not be Porto’s Helton. The Portuguese boss said: “We need a goalkeeper now, not in January. Helton has a contract with Porto and would only be available in January. Then Courtois will be available.”

The Star thinks former AC Milan shot-stopper Marco Amelia could be the man that the Blues are chasing as he is currently a free agent after leaving Serie B side Perugia in the summer.

Renowned Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed a couple of days ago: “Medical tomorrow for @AmeliaGoalie (former @acmilan goalkeeper) with @ChelseaFC: then he’ll sign the contract till the end of the season.”

The Blues welcome Southampton to Stamford Bridge this afternoon and will be looking to clinch all three points against Ronald Koeman’s men.
