Ter Stegen moving to Liverpool

End for Mignolet: Barcelona reportedly ready to sell this UCL winner to Liverpool

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is the latest player to be placed under the transfer list by Barcelona this season. The goal keeper has been in the wish list of Liverpool FC and Manchester city, and Barcelona seems ready for his departure.

By choosing Bernd Leno, Bayer Leverkusen’s goalkeeper as a replacement, it the Catalans have given Marc-Andre ter Stegen the green light to leave the club.

Claudio Bravo is always preferred to Stegen in the goal post at Barcelona, and the 24-year old feels that he needs to play for a team that will offer regular playtime in the first team.

Barcelona, though unwilling to sell the player, seems prepared for his departure. Pep Guardiola has expressed interest in working with the shot-stopper with Joe Hart slowly nearing retirement.

Daily Marca reports say that Ter Stegen from the Camp Nou will be followed by arrival of Bernd Leno. Ter Stegen was signed by Barcelona in 2014 summer from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

His current contract with Barcelona ends on 30th June 2019. However, he is likely to leave the Spanish side this summer to look for more playing time.

Bernd Leno, who is Ter Stegen’s fellow country man and age mate will not mind competing with Claudio Bravo at the Camp Nou. His contract with Bayer Leverkusen expires on 30th June 2018 and Barcelona could activate his buyout clause which stands at €16.25m.
However, Leverkusen are likely to demand double this amount. Barcelona will compete with Tottenham in signing the German, but Barcelona are confident that they will beat the English outfit in signing the goal keeper. Having played 222 times for Bayer Leverkusen, Leno has already done enough for his employers, and he is ready to move on.
