Fresh news- Alex Teixeira finally confirmed as first January signing as Shakhtar agree 30m Pound deal

Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of midfield sensation Alex Texiera. According to The Daily Express, the Ukrainian side have reportedly demanded a fee of 30m Pounds for the player, a sum that the Blues have agreed to pay.

25-year-old Texeira has been magnificent this season as he managed to score 26 goals in 26 appearances in all competitions. The attacking midfielder has been superb ever since he moved to Ukraine from Brazil five years ago. Texeira has gone on to establish himself as  a Shakhtar legend as he has already made more than 220 appearances for the Ukrainians while scoring 89 goals.

Premier League strugglers Chelsea are in desperate need of someone like Texeira as all their play this season has been very unproductive and insipid. The Blues have struggled in attack as their top scorer for the season is Diego Costa with just the three goals. Their defence has been no better and things got so bad for the current holders of the Premier League that their superstar manager Jose Mourinho got the sack as a result.

Former Russia national team boss Guus Hiddink has been appointed as the Blues interim manager and the 64-year-old has identified Texeira as a player who can take the club forward over the long term.

Shakhtar would be loathe to sell their star man but the chances of him staying on in Ukraine look slim to say the least as the side from Donetsk do not have the lure of Champions League football anymore as they got knocked out during the group stages.

Texeira may very well be looking to move to the Premier League after having grown bored of the Ukrainian league. If this report of him being signed by Chelsea is actually true, then it would have to go down as real coup for the Blues who are desperately looking to get their season back on track.
