Great expectations, poor matches – A review of the 4th round of Brazilian Championship
This weekend we had the 4th round of the Brazilian Championship. Of the 10 matches, we hit 8 of our predictions!!! Below is a summary of the main matches of the round:
Coritiba 1-0 Atletico PR
In the state of Parana derby, Coritiba got the better of Atletico as they won at home. The match had several chances, with Atletico PR playing better in the first half, but the “Coxa” reacted and scored the winning goal, further sinking Atletico PR on the leaderboard.
Corinthians 2-0 Santos
In the Paulista’s derby Corinthians confirmed the good phase. Author of goals in all of the derbies of this year, Jo scored another one and gave assistance to the other goal, leaving Corinthians as one of the leaders of the championship.
Flamengo 0-0 Botafogo
In a poor match, with many mistakes from both teams, it could only finish 0-0. In addition, the temperature in a game that took place at noon in Rio de Janeiro, along with a bad pitch, effected the spectacle.
Palmeiras 0-0 Atletico MG
Two favourites for the championship met in São Paulo with the expectation of a lot of goals. But what we saw was a great performance of goalkeepers Fernando Prass and Victor (who saved a penalty).
Gremio 2-0 Vasco
The team from southern Brazil played their role as favourites and beat Vasco at home. In spite of a strong defensive display by the team from Rio De Janeiro, Gremio through their model of possession play and getting as many touches of ball managed to win the match.
