Guillem Balague Reveals: Barcelona’s Financial Restrictions May Lure Neymar to Old Trafford

Man Utd have been long-term admirers of Barcelona star Neymar. The 24-year-old’s father, Neymar Sr. recently admitted in a Spanish court that the Red Devils have offered to pay his release clause to the Catalan club.

Various sources including player’s father and Barcelona director of Football have repeatedly insisted that the player is happy with the Catalan club and has no intentions of leaving.

However, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has revealed that the situation is not that simple, and the player could leave due to the club’s financial restrictions.

Balague said in a Q&A session on Sky Sports: “Barcelona cannot afford to give new contracts to Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar as it stands – financially they do not have the power to do so.

“They need to bring a lot of money in, if they do that they will be able to keep them, but if they don’t they may have to get rid of one. That’s why Neymar keeps leaving the door open for United and others.”

This comes as a major boost for United who are chasing the young Brazilian star for a couple of transfer windows. United already offered €190 to Barcelona in the January for Neymar.
