Hopes That Manchester United Mau Rescue Season At Stamford Bridge Don’t Bode Well As Mourinho Has Never Lost Against David Moyes!

Two titans of English football clash at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in a pivotal Premier League match. Chelsea will be gunning for their sixth straight win in order in order to pile the pressure on Arsenal and Man City at the top of the table, while United will be looking to upset the odds and come away with a vital victory.

Chelsea are in fantastic form at the moment having won five consecutive games in all competitions, meaning they are now just two points off league leaders Arsenal, and one behind City. Blues boss Jose Mourinho has stated that if he leads his side to their first league title since 2010, it will be the best moment of his career, which is some statement from the decorated manager. The Portuguese coach has an excellent record against United, while he has never lost to their gaffer David Moyes!

The Blues have been installed as the 4/5 favourites with Bet Victor to register their sixth successive win at home, while a draw can be found at 11/4. Meanwhile United, who ended a dismal streak of three consecutive defeats by avenging their surprise loss to Swansea last weekend, are the 4/1 outsiders. Goals from Antonio Valencia and Danny Welbeck sealed a valuable 2-0 victory against the Swans, which kept the Red Devils five points off 4th-placed Liverpool. However, a defeat in London this weekend will almost certainly end their already faint hopes of successfully defending their title, while it will also significantly taint their top-four challenge.

It’s not looking too good for a vulnerable United side who haven’t beaten a top-9 side on the road this season, and it is difficult to see them coming away from Chelsea clutching all three points, especially considering the hosts’ form, along with their stunning unbeaten home record (in the league) under Mourinho.

The Blues will be looking for Eden Hazard and Fernando Torres to continue their electric form of late. Playmaker Hazard has been particularly effective, netting in three of his last four league games, making him a decent punt at 5/2 to score anytime, and a tempting bet at 8/1 to bag the first goal of the game. Meanwhile Fernando Torres can be found at 13/8 to grab his third goal in as many starts, whereas the returning Nemanja Matic is priced at 15/2 to score on his return to Chelsea following his £21m move.

The clubs played out a dire goalless draw at Old Trafford at the start of the season, meaning the last three meetings have contained just two goals, making under 2.5 goals worth considering at 10/11 (Ladbrokes). This is further fuelled by the fact that Chelsea have kept five clean sheets in their last six games, including the last three in a row, and considering that they haven’t conceded to United in three games they are definitely worth a bet at 6/4 (Sky Bet) to record their fourth successive shut-out.

Last season the teams met a whopping five teams, with Chelsea coming out on top three times, with United winning just once, although that was a 3-2 league victory at the Bridge. Javier Hernandez netted three times against Chelsea last season to take his tally to seven goals against the Blues. With Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie still out on the sidelines the Uruguayan is expected to be thrust into the starting line-up alongside the in-form Danny Welbeck. The striker looks a very tasty bet at 4/1 to net anytime, while Welbeck is also a juicy price at 3/1.

The best bet is a home win, with a 2-0 scoreline priced at 8/1. However, if Moyes can get United fired up then they can definitely cause United problems, making a score draw a decent looking bet at 7/2. Furthermore if the honours are shared then Paddy Power will refund all losing first goalscorer, last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast bets.
