Just in: Bayern Munich target reveal plans to stay at Old Trafford

Whoever is in charge of Manchester United next season must be slightly relieved to know that one of the clubs best full-backs will hopefully be in the starting lineup next year. Italy international, Matteo Darmian, who has had an indifferent season so far, has declared his intention to stay at United despite speculation at a move away.

German giants Bayern Munich were reportedly interested in the services of the 26 year old and a move back to Serie A where he made his name was also suggested as a possible destination.

United have struggled in defense this season with players such as Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo coming under criticism whilst playing out of position. Youngsters have come in and out of the team but the defense is surely one point any manager will look to strengthen next year.

Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson consistently said that any team he created would always start with strong defenders and although he has had an unfortunate time with injuries of late, Darmian’s Italy caps are a testament to his abilities.

He told the Manchester Evening News: “There is a lot of difference because this is a big club, and from Serie A there are a lot of differences. The Premier League is more physical and less tactical, this is the most important difference, but I think it is the best championship in the world, so I love it. I love the Premier League, and I want to stay here for a long time.”
