Ozil the God

Juventus plot bid for Mesut Ozil, Arsenal prepared to make him highest paid player in club’s history

German International Midfielder Mesut Ozil has been in remarkable form this season for the Gunners. The German International has had to individually run the Arsenal midfield in terms of creativity and clever runs following the injury of Santi Cazorla who has had a lengthy lay off.

Mesut Ozil has flourished in the absence of Santi Cazorla with stellar performances for the gunners at times redeeming them with assists and very important goals. This season alone Mesut Ozil has managed a total of 19 assists and 8 goals for the Gunners.

The lack of silverware at Arsenal coupled with Mesut Ozil’s largely good form this season has seen a number of clubs eye the Midfielder as a potential summer transfer target. The latest club to express its desire to have Mesut Ozil play for them is the Italian side Juventus.

Juventus manager, Massimo Allegri has openly revealed his admiration for Mesut Ozil and would be eager to have the German International as part of his midfield (via Gazzetta). Arsenal is however less likely to let go of their star Midfielder that easily and will do its most to have Mesut Ozil see out his remaining part of the current contract at the Emirates and possibly extend his stay.

In fact Arsene Wenger is according to reports making ready an improved offer for Mesut Ozil which will most likely place the German as the club’s highest paid player earning about 200,000 pounds a week.

The new deal will allegedly also include performance based bonuses.  While Juventus is in a position to meet the transfer price placed on Ozil, the Italian club may struggle to meet Ozil’s pay demands. Ambitious as it is, Juventus interests in Ozil must not be written off bearing in mind that they have for the successfully defended the Seria A title this season.
