Klopp under pressure: Liverpool have 4 days to complete €16m signing

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has been severally criticised for producing what could best be described as mixed performances in some Liverpool encounters this season. For a club of Liverpool’s rating individual player’s performances cannot be allowed to take swings now and then.

The competitive nature of the English Premier League, where a loss or win could prove to be the difference between bagging Silver ware and the lack of it, cannot afford blunders from players that cost the team points when they are so badly needed. Such is the situation that Liverpool’s current number one finds himself in.

At times, Mignolet produces remarkable performances while at other times the performance between the posts lets him down completely. This season this is the situation new Liverpool manager has had to cope with. Most recently in the encounter between Liverpool and relegation threatened side, Newcastle, Mignolet’s dip in form cost the Mersey side club three points.

According to reports emanating from Bild, a German Newspaper, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp looks set to put an end to this goalkeeping uncertainties’ he currently faces by signing an upgrade. Reports coming in suggest that Jurgen Klopp could be interested in securing the services of Bernd Leno, the Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper who has a 16 million pounds release clause in his contract which is due this Sunday.

Bernd Leno is said to be attracting the attention of a number of clubs from outside Germany but Liverpool are being given a 25% likelihood of landing him summer.
Besides their interest in goalkeeper Bernd Leno, Liverpool have previously shown interest in Barcelona’s Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, FC Koln’s Timo Horn, and Augsburg’s Marwin Hitz. With even a more challenging 2016/2017 season Liverpool Manger has a tough decision to make- whether to give Simon Mignolet a second chance or to sign a new goal keeper.
