Klopp’s third signing announced: Liverpool hijacked Man Utd deal

Wonderkid Diego Lattie has signed for Liverpool after being released by Manchester City. The 16-year-old academy youngster has attracted attention for several English clubs, including rivals Manchester United, Everton and Sunderland in recent times.

But as a Liverpool fan himself, it was certain that nothing is going him from signing for his boyhood team.German boss Klopp has already signed two highly rated youngsters so far – Joel Matip from German club Schalke and Marco Grujic from Red Star Belgrade recently.

It was a surprise that Manchester City released the youngster from his contract having impressed while playing for their youth team. The young and talented right back is described as one who will always bombard up and down his flank, showing relentless energy and passion, and some even compared his commitment to German fullback Philipp Lam.

He has been monitored by Liverpool for quite a while and was first to act when it was certain he became available. Lattie’s talent was also spotted by the U17s England coach, having called up him for international duty and making his debut against Italy in August last year.
He will join Liverpool’s U16 squad for training straight away. First team coach Jurgen Klopp, who has high hopes for him, plans to move the defender into the U18s squad this summer for their pre-season.
