Laurent Blanc set to snatch Man Utd job under Mourinho’s nose, Giggs kept on as assistant

Could it really be true? After all the rumors and the gossip, after all the announcements and denials, could Jose Mourinho really NOT be taking over at Manchester united at the end of this season?

Well that depends if you believe the Sun or not as they state that in a surprise twist to one of the biggest managerial transfer sagas in history, Laurent Blanc might in fact be coming to take over Louis Van Gaal instead of Jose Mourinho.

Some of the hierarchy at Old Trafford have been talking about Laurent Blanc as a potential new coach as it might mean that Ryan Giggs would stay. Ryan Giggs is widely tipped to leave if Mourinho comes in, bringing his own assistants. Some have said that Ryan Giggs might be interested in going over the border and managing Celtic to gain some managerial experience.

The long -term plan is to bring Ryan Giggs back as the manager after he gets some experience but they don’t want to lose him just yet. Laurent Blanc played alongside Giggs for a few seasons and the pair already have a rapport built.

Would Blanc and Giggs be better than Mourinho and co?

The Sun say that Mourinho has a verbal agreement that he will take over at the end of the year but nothing is signed and sealed. Laurent Blanc has won everything there is to win domestically with PSG over the past 2 seasons although they have not had the same success in Europe. Jose Mourinho has Premier League success after winning it 3 times with Chelsea and he won the Champions League as well.

United certainly have some thinking to do when it comes to choosing their boss for next year.
