Louis Van Gaal Confirms "New" Left Forward Signing Is Done

LVG has already held talks with superstar, now United wants to sign him

Manchester United has expressed interest in Mat Hummels. Louis van Gaal, Manchester United’s coach has already talked to the Borussia Dortmund’s centerback over a possible move to Old Trafford.

His current contract with the team expires in June 2017, and Manchester United is keen on transferring him to the Theatre of Dreams. According to SportBild, the player’s father said that it was going to be a difficult decision for him to leave Borussia Dortmund, having regained its glory.

This means that if he is to leave, he can only join a great team, like Bayern Munich and others. He formerly played for Bayern Munich before joining BVB, and a return to his old club may not be a surprise, with Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze having done the same.

Hummels has been playing for BVB for the last 7 years. When LVG was Bayern Munich’s coach, the Bavarians tried to keep the player, but it was not possible. Now, Louis Van Gaal is keen to see whether he can link up with the player he lacked an opportunity to work with at Bayern, and if he signs for the Red Devils, he will be a great addition to the struggling United’s defense.

Manchester United have always had defensive concerns since the departure of its two most compatible centerbacks, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.
Chelsea are also rumored to be looking for Hummels’ signature as well as Real Madrid. Overall, there are about five to six clubs that are interested in Hummels’ services, and it will be interesting to learn which team he finally chooses.
