Man Utd Officials Fly Out to Complete Deal for ‘New Cristiano Ronaldo’

Man Utd have maintained an interest in Benfica youngster Renato Sanches for some time now. The Red Devils were linked with a move for the 18-year old during the January transfer window, and they have reportedly not lost their interest in the player.

Website Football Insider claims that United sent their scouts to watch their target in the Portuguese league’s top of the table clash between Benfica and Sporting Lisbon on Saturday and to complete highly watched deal.

Sanches played full 90 minutes in the crucial 1-0 away win, which propelled Benfica to the top of the league table. Young star is often dubbed as new Cristiano Ronaldo.

The youngster was playing for Benfica B team as recently as the beginning of the current season and only made his senior debut in October. However, following his debut, he has cemented his spot in the senior squad and has made 17 league appearances this season. He has also scored two goals in Portuguese league this season.

On the back of his stellar performances this season, he has emerged as one of the hottest youth prospects in European football.

He has a release clause of £62 million in his contract with Benfica, but according to the reports, the Portuguese club are willing to sell their prized asset for a transfer fee around £47m.
