Manchester United On The VERGE Of Signing 20m Rated Chelsea Target

The closing stages of the 2015 transfer window are proving to be desperate times for Manchester United, as they look to bring in an attacking option before the window closes. Manchester United are reportedly set to step up their interest in Southampton’s Sadio Mane today, with the hope of opening talks with Southampton over the potential transfer of the Senegalese.

The 23 year old has proven to be an important cog in the engine of Southampton and was lined up as a possible replacement for Manchester United when they lost out on Pedro. The imminent departure of Javier Hernandez to Bayer Leverkusen leaves Louis Van Gaal no choice but to sign an attacker with Rooney being the only quality and experienced option available at the Dutchman’s disposal.

The signing of the Senegalese will undoubtedly boost United’s attacking options for the season and restore some bit of hope to the United supporters.  Wayne Rooney was United’s top scorer last season with just 10 goals, which is just two higher than what Sadio Mane managed. The 23 year old is bound to hit a much higher figure if he joins Manchester United with the quality of service present.

Wayne Rooney has been a shadow of his former self this season, having failed to meet the same standards set by his previous performances over the years. United’s last game against Swansea makes it 11 EPL games without a goal for the England Skipper. While Wayne Rooney was busy wasting glorious chances for United during the weekend, Sadio Mane notched up two assists and was directly involved in a goal for Southampton as they defeated Norwich on Sunday.
