Manchester United To Open Transfer Talks For Chelsea Target Ahead Of January

Manchester United will revive their interest in Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia when the transfer window reopens in January, as per reports.

Biglia was massively linked with a move to Old Trafford during the summer, even though the club had acquired the services of Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger at that time. However, the move did not materialise as boss Louis van Gaal opted to back out of the deal.

Although United’s central midfielders in the form of  Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Daley Blind [makeshift centre-back], Ander Herrera and Michael Carrick have been fantastic this season, but they have sometimes look fragile. Hence, the arrival of Biglia would no doubt bring added competition for places in the midfield.

But in another sense, United do not really need the Argentina international as they are already blessed with talents in that position.

Yesterday, Arsenal’s midfield tore up that of the Red Devils as the Gunners inflicted a heavy 3-0 defeat on van Gaal’s men at the Emirates stadium.

Meanwhile, United will have to battle fellow Premier League contenders Chelsea for the services of Biglia, 29, with Calcio Mercato saying the Blues are also very much interested in the Argentinian midfielder.

Chelsea fans are agitating for new reinforcements to the squad following the Blues’ woeful performances this term, with Jose Mourinho’s men currently languishing in 16th position on the Premier League table following Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Southampton at Stamford Bridge.
