Marquinhos Ready to Leave PSG in Summer, Chelsea to Hijack Man Utd Deal?

Chelsea have been handed boost in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Marquinhos. The highly-rated defender has been a long-term target of Chelsea, and recent comments from his agent have suggested that he might be willing to switch clubs in the summer.

The 21-year old following his move from AS Roma in 2013 has failed to break into PSG’s starting eleven. PSG manager Laurent Blanc’s preference of Brazilian centre-back pairing of David Luiz and Thiago Silva has seen Marquinhos playing in full-back position on occasions this season.

The youngster is not happy with his current situation at the club, and his agent Giuliano Bertulocci has suggested that he might look for a move away from the club in summer if the situation doesn’t improve soon.

“He is always delighted to be playing, but he prefers to play in his position, that means in the centre,” Bertulocci told French magazine L’Equipe.

“He feels really good at Paris and in this team, he wants to stay, but if the situation does not change, then he will ask to leave this summer because at the age of 21, you need to think about his football progression.”

The Blues have attempted to sign Marquinhos on previous occasions. Premier League rivals Man Utd have also been linked with a move for the youngster.
