RADAMEL FALCAO: After The His first goal, Is The Real Falcao Back?

In January 2014, few months before the World Cup, while playing for his club Monaco Radamel Falcao injured his anterior cruciate ligament which effectively ruled him  out of playing in the World Cup for Colombia. He did not play for any team except his club Monaco in the opening stages of the French Ligue which also coincided with the summer transfer window.

During the window, there were several rumours linking Falcao with a sensational return to La liga but not with Athletico  Madrid with whom he scored 35 goals in 46 league matches. He played for them before joining Monaco in a £50m contract in may 2013.

He was linked with a move to Real Madrid following a tweet which was posted on his official twitter page which reads ‘ dream come true #halamadrid’. He refuted the story and had the tweet deleted. Though his services had been made available to top clubs about 48 hours to the close of the transfer window, it was a shock to avid football followers when on deadline day it was annaounced that he has accepted to join Manchester United on a season long loan.

Immediately, the excitement of Manchester United’s fans was aroused especially on the social media networks relating the surprise story and considering the fact that they have just lost their league opener against Swansea at home. Also the strikeforce of Manchester United immediately became the cynosure of all eyes recalling that the team had the services of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie two prolific strikers in their own rights in its chequebook.

His signing served as a morale boost and surprise to the clubs fans and filled them with great optimism regarding the new season. They were so elated that their club could acquire the services of a prolific out-and-out striker who is also known as a potent fox in the box.

Since his purchase, he has played five matches for his new club and scored his first goal against Everton at home. His goal also won the match for his club. Before now, according to him during the post match interview expressed his goal drought. His performance during the match could only reinforce his ability on the field bof play.

He had a total of 6 shots with 2 on target, missing 1. He made 17 passes with 14 been accurate  and also made 29 touches before he was brought out in the 73rd minute of play. From the stated, it can be seen that he is going to be an important player for the outfit this season. His off-field happiness which he attests to and his love for the club can only reinforce this fact that he will end up  as a very important player for them this season.

His first goal for the club is definitely a confidence –boosting goal both for him and the club which will only signal the intent of many more to come. The importance of having him with them will only be felt now that the fox in the box as just been unleashed.
