Report: Gunners set to replace Theo Walcott with Riyad Mahrez

Arsenal may well look to add some much needed firepower to their team. The Gunners are reportedly interested in bringing one of the Premier leagues rising star- Riyad Mahrez. The Algerian has had a season not short of brilliance as he recorded a staggering 11 assist and 17 goals in his first campaign in the premier league which granted him the PFA Player of the year award.

The 25-year-old is a pacey winger and talented dribbler. It is therefore of no surprise that Arsene Wenger is looking to add the explosive player to his ranks. It is believed that Theo Walcott will take the axe who in contrast has only bagged 5 goals and has struggled to make his mark on the starting 11 in what has been a disappointing campaign for the English man.
Walcott has served 10 years at the Emirates and could see that end. On the contrary, Walcott could still have another chance with a title chasing top side, with Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola an admirer of the fallen star at Arsenal who has failed to impress this campaign after a long spell on the sidelines.

His homegrown status will be a huge boost as City look to build a squad inclusive of more homegrown talent. Additionally, his pace and style of play could be of more utility to City whom are looking to shake up their squad.

Arsene Wenger is also looking to snap up another Leicester City star performer in N’golo Kante who has been solid in midfield and shield the defense well with an six defensive actions per game in the a Premier League. It won’t be an easy task as Leicester will look to keep a hold of their key men for next seasons Champions League and possibly title defense. Arsenal fans will be hoping that these rumours can materialise into concrete transfer action as the Premier League side rarely act as much as they could in the transfer window.
