Romelo Lukaku

Roman Abramovich has sanctioned a £90m double swoop for Everton pair John Stones and Romelu Lukaku

We all know that Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, isn’t afraid of spending big to get the players he wants and it looks like he is ready to spend big again to get a pair of Everton aces.

Chelsea desperately want Jon Stones to become the long-term John Terry replacement and partner of Kurt Zouma in the center of defense but in a move that might seem unlikely, they also want Romelu Lukaku back at Chelsea. John Terry still has yet to sign a contract extension and looks to be leaving the club at the end of the year.

They sold Lukaku to Everton after Jose Mourinho publicly criticized the Belgian international and received £28million for him. He has continued to impress and score goals meaning the blues have rekindled their interest. After just 2 years away from Chelsea, Lukaku could be back at the blues for £50million at the start of next season.

The sale of John Stones looks to be a foregone conclusion with Everton fans turning on him after a recent dip in form. Chelsea bid 3 times for the defender last season but each time they were denied by a resilient Everton. Under pressure manager Roberto Martinez might not be so resilient against Chelsea’s advances this time around.
In a recent revelation, it is rumored that Chelsea passed on the youngster when he was at Barnsley, similarly to when the passed on Dele Alli, who just became the PFA young Player of the Year. Will Stones develop I to a world class center back? Will Lukaku do well for Chelsea?
