Chelsea Signings This Winter

Shock: Chelsea to Lose Another Goalkeeper this Summer

Everton have been linked with a move for Chelsea back-up goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. Toffees’ experienced goalkeeper Tim Howard is reportedly set to depart for MLS club Colorado Rapids in the summer, and the Merseysiders are in the market to find his replacement.

The Sun claims that Roberto Martinez is interested in signing Begovic and plans to lure him to Goodison Park with the promise of regular football.

The Bosnian international moved to Stamford Bridge as a replacement of Arsenal-bound Petr Cech from Stoke City last summer. Petr Cech famously left Chelsea last summer after becoming only a back up keeper for Courtois. He signed a four-year deal with the Blues for a transfer fee believed to be around £8 million.

The 28-year old featured in the starting eleven during the injury layoff of the first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. However, he has been sidelined from the starting eleven ever since the return of the Belgian to fitness. He has only played in FA Cup tie against Scunthorpe since the arrival of Guus Hiddink.

Begovic arrived at Stamford Bridge fully aware that he would play back up to Courtois, but he could be tempted away with the promise of regular football just one year after moving to Stamford Bridge.
