Shock: Liverpool Set to Sign a Playmaker Who’s a Die-Hard Manchester United Fan

FC Midtjylland midfielder Mikkel Duelund has revealed that is he was excited when he learnt of Liverpool’s interest in signing him last summer.

The 18-year-old playmaker is believed to have attracted interest from Liverpool after scoring for Denmark’s Under-20 side in a friendly against Premier League team’s outfit Under-21 outfit.

Recent reports claim that the Reds tried to lure the midfielder to Anfield last summer and could make another move for him once the transfer window opens.

Duelund has confirmed that he is extremely excited that Liverpool spotted him and he will be willing to join Jürgen Klopp, but until he completes another year in Denmark with FC Midtjylland.

“I can’t comment on specific names of clubs, but when I leaned about the interest of a great club last summer, I got pretty excited and took is as a very nice compliment,” he told Goal when asked if Liverpool tried to sign him.

“There has been different rumors linking me to many big clubs, but last summer I was completely sure that I wanted to stay with FC Midtjylland for at least one more year.

“I was sure that this was the right place for me to stay and play regular first-team senior football at a good domestic level with European games as well. Most importantly, it has allowed me to develop myself. At 18 I am well aware of the fact that I need to take some big steps forward to get to the level, where I want to be in the future.”

Duelund, who has scored three times for his Danish club this term, has also claimed that his dream is to play for Manchester United, leaving Liverpool to weigh option whether they will continue their race to secure his services when the transfer window opens.

“My only focus is on football and to do my best for the team,” Duelund said.

“I’m not a fan in this situation. I’m a player, who will do everything to beat them. My ultimate dream in football would be to play for Manchester United, but here and now my biggest ambition is to knock out the team I love.”
The midfielders made his Midtjylland first-team debut in the 2014/15 campaign, and has since impressed. Up until now, he has managed to make 28 appearances for the club.
