Sneidjer Dismisses Talks Of EPL Move; Happy To Stay In Turkey

Dutch midfield maestro Wesley Sneijder has moved swiftly to quell rumours he is set to move to the English Premier league by declaring himself happy and ready to continue his career at Turkish giant Galatasaray.

Sneijder has been heavily linked to Premier league giants Manchester United and Chelsea in recent past and those speculations have continue since Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho took over as manager at Manchester United and Chelsea respectively.

Sneidjer has however, come out to state his desire to continue his career at Galatasaray as he is happy at the club where he has been since 2013. The 30-year-old was quoted saying;

“There is no reason to worry. If I had problems with the club, I would discuss it internally, not through the media. Sneidjer said.

“I have already said that I am happy here and I do not want to go, despite what the media say.”

Both Manchester United and Chelsea manager are said to be keen admirer of the attacking midfielder.

Louis Van Gaal had a good working relationship with Sneidjer during his time as Netherland men’s senior team manager between 2012 – 2014. Sneidjer was a key member of his squad.

He also captained the Dutch national side under Van Gaal but was later stripped of the captain’s armband for Robin Van Persie.

Sneidjer was also an integral member of Inter Milan’s side that won the Uefa Champions League title, the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia  in 2010 under Jose Mourinho. There won’t be argument he played his best football under the Portuguese manager at Inter where he was named the Uefa midfielder of the season and one of the three best midfielders in the world for 2010 by FIFA.

The player himself has in time past expressed his desire to work again with Jose Mourinho whom he described as ‘the best manager’.

His good relationship with both managers means he will continue to be linked to them at every point in his career. The Dutchman is an excellent player but not one the two Premier league clubs would greatly be in need of at the moment.

Since Louis Van Gaal took over at Manchester United, he has bought quite a number of attacking midfielders and that position may not be the area he will need strengthen as they are already a washed with talents in that area.

Van Gaal has at his disposal Di Maria, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Michael Carrick and even Rooney all jostling for the same position Sneider would have played hence, there won’t be much need buying him.

Chelsea on their own part have an array of attacking talents in Oscar, Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas, Andre Schurrle, Willian who can play in same position as Sneidjer. More so, these players are still young and still have a whole lot of playing years ahead of them unlike Sneidjer who is already on the other side of 30.

Though Manchester United made indirect bid for the player during David Moyes’ short term reign but it’s unlikely they will still be interest in the player after more than one year on.

Sneidjer opted to sign for the Turkish champions in 2013 and has made over 45 appearances for the club scoring 18goals. The player has claimed he is happy to stay in Turkey and continue his football with Galatasaray even though the Turkish league may not be as exciting as the English Premier league.
