Spotted: Benfica president in Manchester to finalize Renato Sanches mega deal

Manchester United’s first deal of the year looks to be close as the Benfica president flew into town to finalize the deal to bring Renato Sanches to Old Trafford. Manchester United have been on closing in on this deal for some time now, with long-term target Sanches hoping to become the latest 18 year old sensation in the Premier League.

Luís Filipe Vieira has been in Manchester to personally finalize the deal between the 2 clubs, expected to be a pretty handsome figure. Vieira came with Sanches’ representative, super-agent Jorge Mendes. The pair are expected to tie up loose ends with club chairman Ed Woodward.

The deal is thought to have been agreed already, with just the dotted lines needing to be signed.

The fee being mentioned is in the range of €60million with €40million up front and €20million in add-ons. Benfica think the deal could be finalized shortly and Sanches is extremely excited about joining his new teammates.

Some people are claiming that the monumental fee represents a risk on the behalf of Manchester United, but with Anthony Martial around the same age and proving to be an extremely worthwhile acquisition, Ed Woodward is eager to repeat the feat.
It looks like whoever takes over as manager next season will already have some new players to work with. Would Sanches make a worthwhile player? Are United crazy to spend that much money on a youngster?
