STATS: Gera’s hard work for West Brom vs Tevez’s assists for Manchester City

West Brom v Man City, Saturday 15:00

– West Brom continued their incredible start to the season with a fine 3-2 victory over QPR at the Hawthorns last time out. Goals from James Morrison, Zoltan Gera and Youssouf Mulumbu combined to cement the Baggies firmly in the top 4, a spot they looked unwilling to relinquish given the energetic display they showed here.

– Zoltan Gera covered a game high 6.36 miles for West Brom in that game, which was also the second highest distance covered by a West Brom player in any game this season

– Jonas Olsson is fourth overall in the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index for defensive contributions, with 89 contributions across 46 interceptions, 14 tackles, 20 clearances and 9 blocks

– Youssuf Mulumbu has received the ball more times than any other player in the West Brom team this season with 439 ball receptions showing the reliance of the team on the midfield star

– Man City looked to have returned to something like their ominous best as they swept past Sunderland 3-0. Whilst the reigning champions have been struggling for form of late they showcased some fine play against the Black Cats with Aleksander Kolarov and David Silva particularly impressive for Roberto Mancini’s side.

– Carlos Tevez has been more than willing to try his luck in front of goal this season and has the accuracy to back it up. He ranks third on the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index for shots on target with 16.

– That shots on target rating may lead people to reignite debate over Tevez as a team player, but the striker has helped his team mates with 158 passes in his opponent’s half – more than any other striker in the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index, and leading to an impressive five assists

– Yaya Toure has this week lost his place at the top of the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index for both ball receptions and passes completed in his opponent’s half to Arsenal players this week. Toure is now second for ball receptions to Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta with 654 receptions compared to Arteta’s 668. Meanwhile Santi Carzola now tops the index for passes in the opponents half with 334 passes compared to Toure’s 326

– Kolarov has played just four Premier League games this season, with his free kick against Sunderland his first Premier League goal. He’s also contributed two assists, with the rampaging full back averaging 6.15 miles per game
