The game was called off with 72 minutes played after Senegalese fans reacted to being 2-0 down (6-2 on aggregate) against the Ivory Coast.

Flames appeared above the players’ tunnel shortly after Didier Drogba’s second goal and then it became apparent that fans were setting small fires all around the ground.

Then the Ivory Coast fans rushed towards the exits as bricks rained down on them but the only place they could find safely was on the pitch, which was a five-metre drop.

The players gathered at the centre circle before cars drove on to the pitch to take them to the dressing room.
