Teixeira Speaks on his Future at Anfield: “I’m Here to Work”

Liverpool youngster Joao Teixeira has told the club that he wants guaranteed playing time if they want him to sign a new contract, according to Sunday People.

The 23-year-old, who scored in the FA Cup game against Exeter City, is in the last year of his contract and report suggests that the Reds are currently in discussions with his agent Jorge Mendes over a new deal.

He told the Mirror: “I haven’t played much. I’ve been on the bench a lot, and I don’t like that. I’ve played five times for the first team, and I’ve scored my first goal at Anfield, which is special.

“It’s been good, but I need to play more.” He added: “I’m here to work and show I can play more.

“For now, my plans are to stay with Liverpool and play more here, but you never know what will happen in the future.”
