United and Chelsea Interested in World Class Defender, PSG Star Have Contacted Sporting Director that He Wants to Leave Club

La Liga giants Barcelona have joined Man Utd and Chelsea in pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos. Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claims that the Catalan club are preparing an offer for the 21-year old.

It’s reported that the highly rated Brazilian defender has become disgruntled at the lack of playing opportunities at his current club and is looking for a way out. He is currently the third-choice centre back at PSG and has started only 8 league games this season.

Premier League clubs Man Utd and Chelsea are also reported to be interested in the player. United unsuccessfully tried to sign the Brazilian and another Spanish publication Fichajes claims that they are still interested in the player.

Meanwhile Chelsea are in the market for a centre-back and Marquinhos is one of the many centre-backs that have been linked with them this transfer window.

PSG signed the Brazil international from Serie A club AS Roma in a £22.7m deal in 2013.

Earlier this month, he refused to rule out a summer transfer from PSG. He said: “Like everyone else, I always want to be a part of the starting line-up. But we all must respect the choices of the coach and management.”

“I will continue to work to get my place. But it’s true there comes a moment where I am older, you cannot always get used to the bench. There are six months to win titles. After, we’ll see what happens.”
