United News – £160,000-A-Week Star On The Way, Another RB As Well Maybe?

Manchester United is expected to make a move for highly-rated Southampton right-back, Nathaniel Clyne in the coming days. The Englishman whose form has been part of the reason why the Saints sit third on the Premier League table, has been a revelation this season.

A robust tackler, with 48 tackles so far this season, which is the second-highest in the Division, possessing a fierce shot coupled with a good dribbling ability, Manchester United Manager, Louis Van Gaal has identified the Southampton man as an able replacement for his current first choice right-back, Rafael. Clyne’s all-action performance in his club’s 0-1 away win against the team he is speculated to join has certainly not done his chances of earning a move to Old Trafford any harm.

Edinson Cavani has continually had his name mentioned in the transfer rumor mill as a potential target for several top European sides. A lethal striker and one of the best finishers in world football currently, Cavani had arrived Paris St Germain from Napoli for an eye-watering €64.5m in the Summer of 2013. Cavani who earns  £160,000 has also been linked to Arsenal

Despite the Uruguayan’s renowned lethal threat, he has had to play second-fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has long been deployed as the main man at French Champions, PSG. Having been the main man at Napoli for a number of seasons, he has grown restless at his peripheral role at the Parc des Princes, due to the fact that he knows the influence that his talent can wield.

Although his suitors are a long list of Europe’s elite teams, their interest has often stopped at admiration as they are often put off by the hefty transfer fee that a player of his capability would command in the transfer market. However a team as big as Manchester United has shown that they have the financial might to lure the world’s best players to Old Trafford.

Reports indicate that the Red Devils are ready to trump Arsenal for the signature of the lethal marksman whose transfer could cost as much as £62m. if the deal pulls through, Manchester United would be armed with one of the deadliest strike forces in the world as the Uruguayan would be teaming up with the likes of Robin Van Persie, Radamel Falcao, Wayne Rooney and Angel Di Maria.

While the team is thinking of luring more reinforcements in the form of high-profile playing personnel, other players who have been deemed surplus to requirements at the club are being offloaded. Michael Keane who came through the youth ranks has secured a deal to join newly-promoted Premier League side, Burnley.  Keane, 21, has been impressive during his loan spell at the Clarets and Manager, Sean Dyche was quick to make his move permanent, insisting that the player would find playing time hard to come by at Old Trafford due to the stiff competition for places at the club.
