Welcome To Stamford Bridge – Chelsea To Complete £35m Signing Of UCL Winner

As the countdown to the closing of the transfer window begins, recent reports state that Chelsea could be poised to make a move for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane before the transfer window closes. The French defender has been linked with a move to Chelsea, with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho maintaining confidence of landing the player. Jose Mourinho has always been a keen admirer of the Frenchman after bringing him to the limelight while at Real Madrid.

Chelsea will be looking to capitalise on the Frenchman’s unhappiness with Real Madrid handing out new contracts to both Sergio Ramos and Pepe which might unsettle the 22 year old. The Blues have been unsuccessful in their pursuit of John Stones thus far in the transfer window and would feel it is time to move onto another target.

Madrid’s Raphael Varane was Jose Mourinho’s first choice central defender to be a long term replacement for John Terry at Chelsea but Chelsea turned their attention to John Stones after what seemed like Madrid were not willing to sell. However, Chelsea have revived their interest in the 22 year old and have something to capitalise on in their efforts to sign the Frenchman.

Chelsea will also be handed a boost in their pursuit of the Madrid player, as Raphael Varane has expressed desire to be reunited with his former boss. However time is running out for Chelsea, if they want Raphael Varane in this summer window, they have just limited time to pull the deal off.
