Will Juventus Succeed in the Champions League this Season

Juventus have dominated Italian football in the last couple of years and last season’s comeback demonstrated how powerful they are. Juventus managed to win their fifth title in a row but they are not going to stop here.

Back in 2005-2006 season Juventus won the title, but after the Calciopoli scandal Juventus were one of five clubs that were accused of having arranged games and the club was relegated to Serie B. Many key players left the club after that decision but a few of them remained at Juve and helped the club to return to Serie A. Gianluigi Buffon, Alessandro Del Piero, David Trezeguet and Pavel Nedved were among them.

It took several years to recover but they remained patient and in season 2011-2012, with Antonio Conte as manager they went unbeaten for the entire season and won the Serie A title. Since then Juventus have won the title every year.

Juve are also the big favorites for the forthcoming year. Massimiliano Allegri is happy with the team he has built and has declared that his team is potentially the perfect squad.

Despite the difference between Juventus and the other teams in Serie A, Allegri remains modest and insists that nothing is decided yet and he has drawn attention to the fact that his players cannot afford to start the season as they did in the previous campaign.

Even having lost a few important players in the last two seasons Juventus have demonstrated that they are a force also on the transfer market.

Vidal, Tevez, and Llorente eft; Dybala, Alex Sandro, Mandzukic, Zaza, Pereyra, Hernanez and Cuadrado were brought in to replace them last season. Juve have lost three important players this year. Paul Pogba who became the most expensive football player in the world was transferred to Manchester United for €105 million. Real Madrid activated the buy-back clause, €30 million, for Alvaro Morata and brought the Spanish international back to Madrid. Juan Cuadrado returned to Chelsea after his loan spell ended.

The Bianconeri have also managed to bring in a few world class players. One of the most important transfers in Europe was Gonzalo Higuain, the Serie A top goalscorer, who left Napoli for their rivals Juve. Miralem Pjanic from AS Roma also arrived for €32 million. The Italian giants have strengthened their team with the best players from their rivals.

The defence was not neglected. Brazilian defender Dani Alves arrived on a free transfer after his contract with FC Barcelona expired while Medhi Benatia from Bayern arrived on loan until the end of the season with a buy option of €17million.

And they are looking also to the future. Marko Pjaca , a young croatian striker from Dinamo Zagreb, who impressed at European Championship cost them €23 million.

Allegri seems satisfied with the defence and attack but the midfield still needs improvements to fill the space left by Pogba. Blaise Matuidi from PSG, Matic from Chelsea, Alex Witsel from Zenit and Luis Gustavo from Wolsburg were on the shortlist with Fabregas and James Rodrigues having also been mentioned.

With so much quality in the team, Juventus surely are big favourites for another Serie A title.
