Italian source TuttoMercatoWeb reports that 18-year old has instructed his representatives to finish the deal with the Blues.

Diawara has burst onto the scene in his debut season in the top flight football. The Guinea-born footballer made his Serie A debut back in August after sealing his move to Bologna from lower league side San Marino Calcio.

He has already made 17 appearances for his side in all competitions his season and is regarded as one of the brightest upcoming midfield talents.

According to the report, Chelsea were interested in the player when Jose Mourinho was still in charge, and they are still eager to go ahead with the transfer. Diawara’s current deal with the Serie A club runs until 2020, but a bid of £10m will be enough to convince them to part with their player.

Premier League champions were facing competition from Serie A club Lazio for the signing of Diawara, but now the report suggests that the Blues are the frontrunners to get their man.
