Chelsea are leading the race to sign Charlton Athletic star striker Ademola Lookman, according to the Mirror. The highly rated youngster is also a target of other major Premier League clubs including Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Man City, but according to the report, the Blues have emerged as favourites to secure his signing.
Lookman joined the South London club from Waterloo FC in 2014, and he has scored three goals in five appearances for the Championship club this season.
The recent development has happened after the Addicks boss Karel Fraeye, has earlier this month, claimed that the striker won’t be going anywhere in the January transfer window. He told News Shopper: “Ademola is on a two-and-a-half year deal already. We are doing what we have to do. I think we are very close to where we want to be.
“Ademola has just started first-team football. He’s started very well, but he’s got so many steps to take. I’m sure he won’t be sold in January and will be here in the long-term. He’s a smart boy, and I think Charlton is a good club for him. If he is looking for a club to develop at, he’s at the best club for him, and he knows that.”
