26 Goals in 26 Games Superstar Striker Moving to Anfield instead of Stamford Bridge? Alex Teixeira to Earn £45,000-a-week

Alex Teixeira

Liverpool hasn’t made any major signings yet despite having an injury prone squad. They have been linked with many players in the past few weeks but no concrete deal has been made as yet. The latest player reported to be on Liverpool’s radar is Alex Teixeira. Chelsea is also in contention to get the player but Liverpool seems to make a bid of £24.6 million in order to beat competition.

The Reds have always known to be in competition with other clubs for their potential targets, and too often they haven’t fared well. Chelsea snuck Willian from Liverpool’s grasp, signing him for £30 million. Then manager, Brendan Rodgers, also missed out on signing Alexis Sanchez when Arsenal signed the Chile international breaking Liverpool’s hope of swapping Suarez for Sanchez.

Klopp is now in the process of attaining the services of Teixeira, as he hopes to solve injury problems at Anfield. The 26-year-old has scored 22 goals in 15 league games, and has a total of 26 goals in 26 appearances he has made for Shakhtar Donetsk in all competitions this season.

The striker signed for Shakhtar from Vasco da Gama for €6m in 2009, and has made national appearances for Brazil in under-15s, under-17s, and under-20s tournaments. However, he is yet to make a debut for Brazil’s senior squad.

In his seven years at Shakhtar, Teixeira has won five Premier Division titles, three Ukrainian Super Cups and three Ukrainian Cups. With title-winning experience, the forward is ideal for both Liverpool and Chelsea.

Seeing the recent struggle of Chelsea in the league, Liverpool might seem the better option for the Brazil international. Also Jürgen Klopp, might be an added factor that may lure his decision towards Liverpool.
Alex has 67 goals in 146 matches he has played for Shakhtar in the last five years. The striker would have no problem making his place in the first team as the majority of striking line-up is injured. Liverpool will travel to Carrow Road during the weekend to face Norwich for their upcoming Premier League fixture.
