28 Goals Arsenal Target Arrives England For Medical, BID Already ACCEPTED

Serbian striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic is set to put pen to paper on a five-year deal as a Newcastle player. This will come as a big blow for the Gunners, who were once linked with the Anderlecht forward, who scored 28 goals in the Belgian league last season.

According to the Mirror, the player, who was also linked with a move to both Porto and Roma, is now set to finalise his moves to Tyneside, with his club set to do business for £12million.

The 20-year old was a target for the Blues before this latest report. Though, he is yet to undergo a medical at the club, the deal is expected to be wrapped up pretty soon as Steve McClaren starts preparing his team for the upcoming season scheduled to start early in August.

Arsenal have been linked with a couple of other strikers since the window opened, but the club’s decision not to sign Mitrovic may have been based on the manager’s insistence on waiting for Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, according to Goal. Benzema is likely to cost the club nothing less £30 million, but that shouldn’t be a problem for the club, having paid more to secure the services of both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in the last two windows.

The North Londoners are also in the market to sign a defensive midfielder, despite the presence of Francis Coquelin, who stepped up his game last season when he was recalled back from loan in the Championship.
