2nd summer signing? Antonio Conte wants to sign another AS Roma star for £24m
Chelsea always feels the absence of his captain John Terry, and that is why it is preparing for transfers of defenders into the Stamford Bridge, among them Roma’s center-back, Antonio Rudiger. The 23-year old is in the list of Conte’s wish list as he prepares to be Chelsea’s manager next season.
The German international was loaned from Stuttgart to Roma this season. The loan spell is expected to end at the end of this season but Chelsea wants the player to head to London instead of Italy when his loan spell expires.
The Blues are prepared to part with £24m to sign the defender with the reliance on John Terry at the back expected to reduce significantly in the coming periods. However, Roma may also be interested in sealing a permanent deal with the player who has already impressed them.
Chelsea’s interest in Antonio Rudiger interfered with talks between Stuttgart and Roma over a £7m move for the defender. Conte is keen on taking advantage of the situation to lure the defender to the premier league this coming season.
He is also interested in Radja Nainggolan, Rudiger’s teammate. Nainggolan will cost Chelsea £31million if a deal is sealed.
Roman Ibrahimović and his board are prepared to spend in order to make major changes to a Chelsea squad that has struggled since the departure of their coach Jose Mourinho. Mourinho was sacked after a string of dismal performances for the London club.
