Jose Mourinho Louis Van Gaal

3 stars signed by Ferguson that Mourinho will sell immediately if he becomes Man United manager

With the Manchester United manager situation far from over, Louis Van Gaal thinks he will still have a job come September when the new season is starting. Many think that is an incredible long shot, given the indifferent form of the team this year and the inconsistency shown by the players. LVG has brought youngsters through to the first team, but after spending a fortune on players, the fans want more.

The general consensus around those in the know suggest that Jose Mourinho made a ‘golden handshake’ deal with club chairman, Ed Woodward, earlier in the year and will be coming in to take over in the coming months.

United still have an FA Cup competition to win and they are still mathematically challenging for a Champions League place, so the board are delaying the announcement in order to let the players get on with the football.

If Jose does come in, the likelihood is, he will be given a truck-load of cash to spend in any way he sees fit. Should he make signings, some players will inevitable be going the other way and here is who we reckon will be leaving:

Phil Jones – Once lauded as the next England captain, Phil Jones has struggled with injuries and fitness, limiting him to just a handful of games. Jose doesn’t like players that can’t play for him and Phil might find himself on his way out of the door.

Ashley Young – Another player who has struggled with injuries of late, Ashley Young has fallen down the England pecking order and looks a shadow of the player he was a few years ago. Jose will be looking for the best attacking players in the world and Young doesn’t seem to be amongst that list.
Michael Carrick – Could still do a job in midfield, but Carrick is aging and his contract is running out. United have many players in that position and are looking at others.
