£300,000-A-Week UCL Winner Considering Manchester United Move, Woodward Working On Deal

Superstar sky sports and La Liga pundit Guillem Balague has claimed that Manchester United thought that they could sign Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid during the summer transfer window and the deal was almost completed.

According to Balague, United entered negotiations with the Spanish club for the centre-back and the negotiations progressed with ease with the two parties expecting that Ramos would leave Madrid for England but the Spanish giants apparently had more up their sleeves than they showed United as the Spanish international ended up signing a new contract with Real Madrid.

Balague however admitted that he was not surprised by the outcome, but that Madrid played some trick to make members of the Old Trafford hierarchy confident that they could bring the 29-year-old defender to the club.

Balague said, “There were negotiations taking place. Manchester United thought they could have him. But I was convinced. Someone who dreamt of being the captain of Real Madrid, who was being the captain of Real Madrid, just wanted a bigger contract.”
United did not recover from this deception and ended up not strengthening at centre-back over the summer transfer window but ‘the god of football’ decided to smile on the Red Devils as Chris Smalling has been in tremendous form and has helped manager Louis Van Gaal to ease some of his defensive concerns that existed after the exit of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

Balague is however of the opinion that Manchester United have not left Spain and that there is a genuine possibility of United signing another superstar with Neymar thought to be assessing his current situation at Barcelona.

Balague said, “Neymar is a completely different situation, believe me, and he is actually thinking ‘what shall I do next?’ because (Lionel) Messi will be there for four or five years if he doesn’t move and Neymar won’t be allowed to grow.”

It remains to be seen if Neymar will be ready to move especially with recent reports suggesting that Messi could move as soon as January which means Neymar could easily become the next best thing at the Nou Camp.
