5 Reasons Why Chelsea Will Beat Crystal Palace

Actions resume again across different centres in the English Premier league after the international break. Chelsea make a short trip to Selhurst park to face Crystal Palace on Saturday in a match many have tipped the visitors to win. Chelsea occupies the summit of the league table five point above their nearest rival Manchester City.

The Blues have won six of their seven league games so far this season and remains the only unbeaten team in the Premier league this season. Crystal palace currently lie 15th on the log after taking just 8points from their first 7game played so far this season. The Eagles have won just two of their seven league matches this season and will test their might against the flying city rival, Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho side lost the corresponding fixture last season after a John Terry header gifted the then Tony Pulis side a 1-0 win. The loss dented Chelsea’s hope of winning the league title and Mourinho will want to avoid such embarrassing defeat when they return to Selhurst park this weekend.

We take a look at five reasons why Chelsea will beat Neil Warnock men.

  • Fully fit squad

The Chelsea team has been described as one of the most complete team in the Epl. After the international break,  there are no major injury worries for Jose Mourinho and he will have a full house of players to choose from. Mourinho has also found the right balance for his team and now that everyone is fit, expect them to be all over Eagles come saturday.

Diego Costa and Fabregas:

Crystal Palace beat Chelsea last season by simply locking up shop at the back and hitting Chelsea on the counter. The Chelsea team last season lack the penetrative power to break down tight defence and Mourinho has gone to address this flaw by signing Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa. Fabregas has this pass that can unlock any tightest of defence and the penetrative and continuous probing power of Diego Costa means teams cannot just seat, defend and hope to catch Chelsea on the counter. Diego Costa will put the ball at the back of the net before you know it. The striker has nine goals in seven matches while Fabregas has seven assists in the same number of games, that’s shows the ease at which these two Spanaids can unlock opposition defence.

  • Palace Poor Home Record

Neil Warnock’s side have only won one of their three home games this season scoring three goal as much as they conceded. While Chelsea have looked menacing in their away game dropping their only point against Manchester City at the Etihad. Expect Chelsea to compound this not-too looking good home record of Palace.

  • Clean Sheet:

Chelsea didn’t start the league very strong defensively keeping only one clean sheet(against Leicester City) in the first five game but the defence looks to have found their balance against after three consecutive clean sheets in all competition before the international break. Thibaut Courtios seems to have gotten on the same page with his central defenders and has marshalled his backline well in recent games. And when you don’t score Jose Mourinho, side expect them to score you.

  • Revenge

The defeat to this same side last season dashed Chelsea’s hope of winning the league title and Jose Mourinho and his players will come to this game with one thing in mind; Revenge: That should be good-enough motivation for Chelsea players to see them get their own pound of flesh off Palace.
