5 Reasons Why Chelsea Will THRASH Arsenal
Chelsea and Arsenal will go into the super Sunday London derby as the only teams yet to lose a match in the Barclays Premier league this season. Chelsea have been on an impressive run of form winning five out of their six league matches so far and topping the league table with 16 points from the six matches with the the only dent to their record being the 1-1 result against Champion Manchester City at the etihad.
Arsenal on the order hand have not been consistent with their performance and results having only accumulated 10points from two wins and four draws in their first six matches.
The last time Arsenal visited Stamford Bridge in what was supposed to be Arsene Wenger’s 1000th game for the gunners they were thrashed 6-0 by a ruthless Chelsea side with Arsenal ending the match with 10 men after Kieran Gibbs was wrongfully sent off by referee Andre Marriner for a Chamberlain hand ball inside the box.
The two teams won their mid-week champions league matches with Arsenal thrashing Galatasaray 4-1 while Chelsea could only manage a 0-1 win over Sporting Lisbon but it is the Blues I tip to win this London derby tie.
So we look at five reasons why Chelsea will beat Arsenal come Sunday.
- Players Availability:
Arsenal’s injury room has kept swelling up by the day with Ramsey and Arteta the latest player to join. Aaron Ramsey(hamstring), Mikel Arteta(calf strain) have been ruled out for four and three weeks respectively with long time absentees like Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Mattiue Debuchy, Nacho Monreal, Yaya Sanogo and Serge Gnarbry all continuing their recovery. Jack Wilshere is also a major doubt for the game. This leaves the Arsenal squad thin in right personnel to execute the game. Chelsea on the other hand have all their players fit and rearing to go except for Ramires who is nursing a strain. Mourinho have a depth of squad to execute this match and this will give Chelsea that winning edge over Arsenal.
- Diego Costa:
The blistering form of the Brazil-born striker is arguably one of the main reason why Chelsea are seating top of the league table. The striker has scored 8goals in five of the six premier league matches he has played so far with the match against Manchester City being the only match he has failed to register himself on the score sheet. He is a thorn in the flesh of defenders and Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny will have it rough trying to keep him from scoring. After declaring himself fit for this game, expect some goals from the Epl top scorer.
- The midfield battle:
Arsenal are good going forward but their lack of a good central midfielder could hunt them in this game. With Ramsey and Arteta out of this game Wenger can only call on Flamini or the injury prone Diaby into the central midfield position. He could also bring in Chamberlain into the position but that has not walked out well as Chamberlain’s inexperience and naivety was greatly exploited by Chelsea the last time the two side met. Mourinho with player like Cesc Fabregas (who Arsene Wenger had the privilege to bring back to the Emirate but turned down) and Nemanja Matic will look to take total control of the midfield thereby leaving Arsenal chasing shadows. Expect Chelsea to boss this department of the game.
- 4. Mourinho Vs Wenger:
It is a known fact that Wenger has never defeated any team managed by Jose Mourinho. In the eleven previous meetings between the two managers, Mourinho has gotten the better of Wenger winning six times and drawing five times with the latest win being the 6-0 humiliation in what was suppose to be Wenger’s 1000th game as Arsenal manager. Mourinho’s Chelsea look the favourite for this one so, expect the thumping to continue.
- Full Backs:
Arsene Wenger is known to give his full backs the privilege to go forward at will whenever they have the ball and this has left them hugely exposed and vulnerable especially by big teams who can play on the counter. Wenger is also tactically rigid hence, expect him to stick to this method and against a counter attacking minded Chelsea with player like Eden Hazard, Andre Schurrle, Oscar, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa who can move the ball quickly across the line expect Arsenal to be exposed again through the marauding full backs.
