£50m Star Speaks On Potential Arsenal Move
Karim Benzema has landed his Premier League suitors in Arsenal and Manchester United another blow by reiterating that he remains committed to the cause of Real Madrid.
The Los Blancos forward was massively linked to Arsenal throughout the summer, with Italian journalist Emanuele Gialiunelli, especially, claiming Benzema will join the Gunners, before the striker tweeted that he would remain at the Bernabeu. However, Real president Florentino Perez also revealed United made inquiries over the availability of Benzema, as per Goal.
However, Benzema – who has been at Real since 2009 remained at the Spanish capital and has now insisted he is happy to be at a club which is “the best in the world”. He has now calmed any fear of fans who would have thought the striker will be moving to the Premier League.
“There was nothing in the talk on a transfer away from Madrid,” Benzema told Telefoot via Goal.
“I’m happy at my current club, it’s the best in the world. I’ll continue to work here and be happy where I am.”
The former Lyon front-man has established himself as one of the deadliest striker in world football, having led the line successfully for Real Madrid for six years, and counting. He has also been France’s first-choice striker over the years.
Before this season, Benzema has scored an amazing 133 goals in 281 appearances for Los Blancos, and this has made him one of the most sought-after forward.
The 27-year old bearded player could have been a great addition to either Arsenal or United, if he had joined, as both clubs have been able to score only three goals so far in their four league matches this season.
Benzema did not feature in Real’s opening game of the new La Liga season against Sporting Gijon, as he was out with a thigh injury. However, he made a return to the team in their second match against Real Betis and capped it with a goal as Los Blancos ran out 5-0 winners.
